Job Summary:

To be cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the department and the hospital.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilies: 

Clinical/Technical/Service 

  • Works with program psychiatrist in assessing medical/psychiatric needs of program 
  • patients. 
  • Provides linkage and liaison with primary care provider. 
  • Provides health evaluation and follow-up to referred patients, management and 
  • administration of medication under supervision of MD. 
  • Evaluates routine urgent health problems and facilitate, coordinate referrals, evaluate 
  • laboratory reports. 
  • Provides health mental education, treatment, rehabilitation and support services to 
  • referred patients. Services may be provided in the community as needed. 
  • Collaborates with program nurse and team members to develop and implement 
  • treatment plans involving multiple modalities. 
  • Participates in team meetings/rounds. 
  • Documents medical record(s) in a timely and accurate manner. 

Organizational/Managerial 

  • Participates in the departments performance improvement activities. 
  • Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.
  • Observes the Health Care System’s Compliance policies. 

Educational/Professional Development 

  • Participates in the development of other staff members.
  • Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements.
  • Identifies learning strengths and needs.
  • Utilizes learning resources.

Communication/Relationships 

  • Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with 
  • patients, families and significant others. 
  • Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital 
  • staff and extended community.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Prior nursing experience with the mentally ill with co-morbidities of substance abuse.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in NYS preferred; LPN considered. 
  • Certification in Psychiatric Nursing and/or Chemical Dependency preferred.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $72,473.00 - $108,709.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
